Sinead grew up in Surrey, England and began playing the cello at 8 years old, before picking up the horn aged 10. Both her parents are Irish and she enjoys travelling to visit her family members in Ireland. It became clear during her teenage years that Sinead wanted to pursue a career as a horn player.
Sinead spent 4 years as a member of Stoneleigh Youth Orchestra, taking on the role of principal horn in her final year. During her time there, she performed in Cadogan Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall and Fairfield Halls and went on tours to Italy, Czechia and Spain. From ages 16 to 18, Sinead was a horn scholar at the Royal College of Music Junior Department, where she was taught by Sue Dent. At the RCM, she competed in the Peter Morrison Concerto Competition, Gordon Turner Competition and Michal Kaznowski Chamber Music Competition and performed in orchestras, chamber groups and as a soloist, playing a wide range of repertoire including the UK premiere of ‘Giving Ground’ by Tonia Ko. Sinead has also played twice in the German-Nordic Youth Philharmonic Orchestra, performing major orchestral repertoire in the Berlin Philharmonie in January 2025 and June 2026.
Sinead is currently in her first year studying music with a full scholarship to the Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. She has continued her studies with Sue Dent. During her first year, she has played in Guildhall Symphony Orchestra, Guildhall Jazz Orchestra, Guildhall Symphonic Wind Orchestra, two Guildhall operas and she is a member of the newly-formed brass quintet Quintessential Brass, who have started giving public performances.
As an arranger, Sinead's arrangements have been performed by the National Youth French Horn Ensemble. The advice and tuition she received from Tim Jackson throughout the arranging processes has instilled a passion for arranging in Sinead and she hopes that it will become an integral part of her career in the future.
Sinead has recently taken on the role of Regional Representative of the British Horn Society, representing Guildhall and South-East England. She hopes to use the role to bring the joy of horn playing to as many people in her local areas as possible!
